Blue Sky Kentucky A 501(c)3 Organization Serving Music in Kentucky
Blue Sky Kentucky is dedicated to presenting and promoting top quality music in a variety of styles. The organization’s mission is to create original programs, promote local talent, present a unique variety of national touring groups and artists, explore local collaborations to enhance the musical environment, and inspire and educate audiences in Louisville and the broader Kentuckiana area.
So far, Blue Sky Kentucky has made good on its earliest stated mission goal of “producing a multi-day festival, followed by a concert series.” The Jamfest event, with a stellar line-up of musicians from the area and across the nation, was one of the earliest and most ambitious of the Americana-oriented “jam” festivals in the country. Featuring three days of live music, with dozens of musical acts, nothing like it had been attempted in Louisville before. Among the acts featured were Sam Bush, Patty Griffin, Delbert McClinton, Los Lobos, Jerry Douglas, Leftover Salmon, Richie Havens, and Buddy and Julie Miller.
More recently, Blue Sky produced the inaugural season of its “Americana Caravan” series, kicked-off with a sold-out performance by legendary Texas singer-songwriter Joe Ely. The Americana Caravan, hosted by Michael Young, with support from WFPK 91.9 Radio Louisville, is a series of affordable listening room shows featuring intimate music in an intimate setting. The Caravan is intended to raise awareness of the organization and its mission, and to raise funds for future endeavors, as well as showcasing some of the finest Americana music around. The series includes one evening performance each month.
The Americana Caravan has featured Joe Ely, Jim Lauderdale, Richard Buckner, Kim Richey, Jeff Black, Slaid Cleaves and Tim Easton. The Caravan has also proudly hosted Kentuckiana's own Brigid Kaelin, Tim Krekel, John Mann, Leigh Ann Yost, danny flanigan, and Between Two Lions.

The Visual and Performing Arts are an emphasis of the Recreation/Youth Development department at The Cabbage Patch Settlement House. "Blue Sky Kentucky’s music education program further enhances our existing programming in music, including choir and our popular guitar program."—Rev. J. Tracy Holladay, executive director
Holladay added, "We are delighted that one of Blue Sky Kentucky’s founders, Greg Handy, is a 'Patch' alumnus. As The Cabbage Patch celebrates our 100th year of profoundly changing children’s lives, we’re really trying to re-connect with our alumni, those who have participated in our programs and services throughout the decades."
